Meeting with the Auditor General

In a significant step towards enhancing transparency and accountability, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío of Baja California Sur met with Aureliano Hernández Palacios Cardel, the Auditor General of the Federation, in Mexico City. The meeting focused on reviewing the progress made regarding the federal resources exercised during the period from 2021 to 2024.

During this period, the state government reported an expenditure of 130 billion pesos. Governor Castro Cosío emphasized that only 1% of the observations made by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) remain, and these have already been addressed. The necessary documentation has been submitted to the ASF, reinforcing the government's commitment to fiscal responsibility.

"We have worked diligently to address all observations made by the ASF regarding the management of federal resources,"

said Castro Cosío.

Commitment to Fiscal Oversight

The governor highlighted that the current administration has been proactive in following up on the observations made by the ASF concerning the fiscal oversight of federal resources transferred to the state. This approach not only reflects a commitment to good governance but also aims to strengthen public trust in the management of state resources.

Accompanying the governor in this important meeting were Bertha Montaño Cota, Secretary of Finance and Administration, and Rosa Cristina Buendía Soto, Secretary of the Comptroller and Government Transparency. Their presence underscores the collaborative effort within the state government to ensure that all financial operations are conducted transparently and in accordance with legal provisions.

"We will continue to work on monitoring public resources and strengthening control mechanisms to ensure their proper application and compliance with legal requirements,"

Castro Cosío stated.

Future Steps and Governance

Looking ahead, the governor reiterated the importance of maintaining rigorous oversight of public funds. The administration is committed to not only addressing current observations but also implementing measures that prevent future discrepancies. This proactive stance is crucial for fostering a culture of accountability within the government.

The meeting with the Auditor General is part of a broader strategy to enhance fiscal transparency and ensure that public resources are utilized effectively for the benefit of the citizens of Baja California Sur. As the state continues to navigate the complexities of public finance, the emphasis on accountability and transparency will remain a cornerstone of governance.

"Our goal is to ensure that every peso spent is accounted for and that we are serving the best interests of our community,"

concluded Castro Cosío.

This commitment to transparency and effective resource management is essential for building public confidence and ensuring that the state's financial practices meet the highest standards of accountability.
