Description

A New Initiative for Young Children

Baja California Sur is making strides towards the creation of a Commission for Early Childhood, which aims to integrate programs and services specifically designed for children under six years old. Laura Sofía Villa Urías, the head of the Executive Secretariat of the State System for Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents (SIPINNA), announced this initiative during a recent meeting.

The proposal, driven by the Government of Mexico through the National SIPINNA, seeks to align Baja California Sur with the National Strategy for Early Childhood Care (ENAPI). This strategy encompasses four key areas: health and nutrition; education and care; protection; and well-being.

"This first approach will establish the guidelines and mechanisms for the installation of the Commission, with participation from state dependencies and the social and private sectors,"

Villa Urías explained.

Collaborative Efforts and Responsibilities

Roberto Fuentes, the Deputy Director of Early Childhood at the National SIPINNA, emphasized the importance of this commission in consolidating existing efforts within the state. He noted that it will help define responsibilities and streamline actions already being taken in the region.

"This instance will allow us to concentrate the actions that are already being carried out in the entity and define responsibilities,"

Fuentes stated.

The strategy will also monitor the Integral Route of Care and the registration of programs and services. It will address critical issues such as family planning and sexual and reproductive health, all framed within a rights-based perspective.

Impact on the Community

The meeting included representatives from various sectors, including the Coordination of Advisors, the State Attorney General's Office, and the Secretariats of Public Education and Health. These stakeholders will collaborate in this coordination process, which is expected to benefit over 75,833 children in Baja California Sur.

The establishment of this commission marks a significant step towards enhancing the welfare of young children in the region. By focusing on early childhood, the government aims to ensure that children receive the necessary support and services during their formative years, laying a strong foundation for their future development.

As Baja California Sur embarks on this important initiative, the commitment from various sectors highlights the collective effort required to create a nurturing environment for the youngest members of society. The collaboration between government entities and community stakeholders will be crucial in making this vision a reality.
